Dormice

We monitor the Hazel Dormouse in two places, one typical dormouse habitat, hazel wood coppice, and one unusual habitat, coastal scrub. At each site 25 nesting boxes are inspected monthly from April through to October. The individual dormice are weighed; their sex is recorded, together with a note if they are found to be in breeding condition. The data is collated for the National Dormouse Monitoring Programme (NDMP), for more information click here
