Learning with A Changing Coast Project
In 2001 the beach and the narrow shingle ridge behind was eroded by a massive 25 year storm. This damaged the road and had a massive impact on the local community. Eventually the road was relocated within the National Nature Reserve which had a massive impact on the wildlife. In 2010 Slapton Ley established the Learning With a Changing Coast Project. This creative project uses a range of educational approaches including fieldwork, role play and images with the aims of:
- Developing understanding about the changing coast for families living in Start Bay.
- Providing learning opportunities for 2 generations of children in Start Bay over the next 50 years.
We are working in partnership with local schools and families, Slapton Line Partnership and local businesses including Tally Ho Coaches and Dartmouth Golf Club.
